Thanks for using LumaDocs. By using the app, you agree to the terms below. They are written to be short and fair. If anything is unclear, email hello@lumadocs.app.
1. What LumaDocs is
LumaDocs is a personal document vault. Documents you add are encrypted on your device before they are stored locally or synced to your own Google Drive. You can read more about the data model in our Privacy Policy.
2. Your account
- You can use LumaDocs as a guest (everything stays on your device) or by signing in with a Google account.
- You are responsible for keeping access to the account you sign in with. Because we cannot read your data, we cannot recover it for you if you lose that account.
- You agree not to use LumaDocs on behalf of someone else without their permission, or to upload documents you do not have the right to store.
3. Acceptable use
While using LumaDocs, you agree not to:
- Break the law or help anyone else break the law.
- Attempt to bypass, disable, or probe our security measures.
- Try to reverse-engineer, decompile, or derive encryption keys other than your own.
- Use LumaDocs to store content that infringes another person's rights, contains malware, or is otherwise unlawful.
- Use the service to send spam, phish, or interfere with other users.
If you violate these rules, we may suspend or terminate your access. Because your documents are encrypted client-side, termination does not give us the ability to read them — it simply ends our provision of the service to you.
4. Your content
You own your documents. We do not claim any rights over them. We cannot read them. We store encrypted copies only to the extent you have enabled sync to your own cloud storage, and you can remove those copies at any time.
5. Service availability
LumaDocs is provided on an "as is" basis. We aim for high uptime but do not promise an uninterrupted service, and we may change or discontinue features over time. We will give reasonable notice before removing material features that you rely on.
6. Third-party services
LumaDocs integrates with Google (for sign-in and optional Drive sync). Use of those services is subject to their own terms and policies. We are not responsible for outages, rate limits, or policy changes on those platforms.
7. Fees
LumaDocs is currently provided free of charge. If we introduce paid plans, existing users will be notified in advance and given the choice to continue on a free tier, upgrade, or export their data and leave.
8. Termination
You can stop using LumaDocs at any time. Sign out, clear your local data, and revoke our access in your Google account settings. We can suspend or terminate your access if you breach these terms or if we need to protect the service, other users, or ourselves.
9. Disclaimers
To the maximum extent permitted by law, LumaDocs is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
You are responsible for maintaining backups. We recommend periodically exporting your vault from Settings → Export Vault.
10. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of LumaDocs. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or (b) fifty US dollars.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. If changes are material, we will update the "Last updated" date and notify signed-in users in the app or by email before the changes take effect. Continuing to use LumaDocs after the effective date means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the operator of LumaDocs is established, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Disputes will be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction, to the extent permitted by local mandatory law. Specific governing-law details are available on request at hello@lumadocs.app.
